Forest Defense: Fall 2019- Current
About this campaign:
The Forest Defense Campaign directly works to fight unsustainable logging projects and processes in Oregon using direct action, education, and legislation. The current campaign is working to save Windy Peak, an ecologically diverse plot of forest that includes old growth and keystone species, from being included in the N126 timber sale. N126 is a 22,000 acre logging proposal of the Bureau of Land Management Forest. If the sale goes through, private logging companies will build destructive roads and cut down many trees, destroying habitat for endangered species such as the marbled murrelet, killing old growth ecosystems that sequester carbon, tainting sustaining waterways, and impacting the biodiversity of this region. If you feel passionate about saving local forests and are interested in direct climate action work, this is the club and campaign for you!
